14 Arrested in Occupy CD2 Requesting People's Town Halls with Walden

Six constituents in Medford and eight constituents in Bend were arrested minutes ago for refusing to leave Rep. Walden's offices until he agreed to simply hold public town halls.

Acting in solidarity, 15 people met the Bend arrestees as they were escorted out of the office with signs and the chants, "we are the 99%" and, "where oh where is Walden?"

The Medford Six were brought to the courthouse, cited, and released. Bend constituents were cited and released outside of Walden's office.

They were cited with Criminal Trespass 2 and banned from going to Rep. Walden's offices for one year unless invited.

  2. "Occupy Walden" with simultaneous rallies in Medford, Bend, Klamath Falls, La Grande and Hood River was planned by a coalition of activists coordinated by the Rural Organizing Project, and it all went off extraordinarily well. Rep. Greg Walden, R-OR, was our target because he's so obviously a tool of the 1%. Herb Rothschild says it best at the end of the Medford Mail Tribune story: "The real issue here is not Mr. Walden's schedule. The real issue is Mr. Walden's votes. His votes are for Wall Street, not our street." A bunch of us occupied Walden's Medford & Bend offices from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday. Those who wanted to be arrested stuck around for the police to arrive, others went out to join our supporters in the streets. Here's the Medford Mail Tribune's story about the sit-in from this morning's paper:
